Meet Rebecca Selig Definite BA.
Rebecca Selig was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she was one of the few people in her community that had any interest in skiing. She started skiing at the age of two when her father taught her to ski down the small vertical foothill of Timber Ridge. From that moment on she was fearless. Just one year later she was skiing faster than both of her parents and she loved every minute of it. Her father fueled her passion for the sport by "occasionally" picking her up early from middle school and taking her to the slopes.
Fast forward a few years, Rebecca decided to move to Vail to pursue her dream and entered in her first skiing competition at the age of 28 and found herself taking 3rd place in the US Freeskiing Tour. Today, Rebecca is considered one of the best female skiers in the world. Skiing is Rebecca's church. It's her lifestyle. It means everything to her. It gives her motivation to keep going and drives her to be a better person.
So what is Rebecca Selig up to now besides shredding the pow pow in The Oracles and being a part of the Icelantic crew?
In January 2014, she and three companions embarked on a backcountry ski trip in Vail, Colorado on an attempt to capture photographs of them leaping off various cliffs in the area. Rebecca recalls her experience of that day, reflecting on her near death experience being caught in an avalanche. Pretty powerful stuff...listen to this live interview with The Smallest Bone.
