Let The Adventure Begin! - Icelantic X Moorings Sailing Series Part 1
For a second year in a row Icelantic Skis has partnered with The Moorings Vacations in an effort to showcase adventure sailing lifestyle in the off season and how good it can be. Here is the first part of the series of short webisodes documenting the recent adventure to the West Indies as the Icelantic crew sets sail in the Grenadine Islands of the South Caribbean - For more information visit www.moorings.com/icelantic

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
The smell of salt, lush jungle, and humidity rushed through the plane as we began our final descent into the island of St. Lucia. After a quick and painless pass through Customs, Immigrations, and Baggage claim, we were greeted by Smally, The Moorings’ local driver, who had been kind enough to bring us some ice cold Pitons, the local beer. Our crew of Icelantic skiers had once again band together to sail, explore, and find the adrenaline and energy of the Windward Islands. Our gear in tow, we popped into Smally’s van for an hour drive to The Moorings’ base on the tranquil leeward side of the island in the beautiful Marigot Bay.
Upon our arrival, The Mooring’s team, Lene and Alex, finalized the last details of The Life Jacket, the 46 foot catamaran that would be our home for the next two weeks. Their base is equipped with everything a traveler could need, including: a variety of great restaurants, a hotel, pool, gift shop, ice, snorkeling gear, kayak rental, showers/toilets, customs for clearance, supermarket, laundry, car rental, post office and bank. Starving from a full day of travel, we popped into one of the restaurants, Elena’s, for some homemade pizza before heading back to the Life Jacket for our first night on the boat.
