Julian Carr Bags His First Descent

Words by Julian Carr Got my first, 1st descent of my life. At the newest tenure heli operation in British Columbia, Kingfisher Heliskiing, on a heli-assit touring assignment with Backcountry Magazine, we stayed in a cabin in the backwoods you had to snowmobile to, we hopped in the heli each morning at a little farm off the dirt road middle of nowhere Canada, near Cherryville, BC, next thing you know our guide is pointing out a row of these chutes that had never been skied. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was second down a first descent with Brody Leven in Iceland two years ago, but he went first, I finally got one I can call my own. Named it "Juicebox", after I skied it, 2500 total vert to the valley floor, I was all by myself in the massive mountains, total silence, total contentness, I grabbed my juicebox from my pack and just stared for a good 20 minutes before a voice came over the radio to break the silence..
