Our friends and prided retail partners just across the street from us here in Golden, CO Bent Gate Mountaineering share with us what's new and a little about their secrets to success in our ever-changing industry.

"We are gearing up for an awesome winter here at bentgate. This year, we’ve put more focus on our in store services that internet companies can’t offer, like custom boot fitting, full service ski shop, and a ton of free clinics and community events.

 We’re also excited about our partnership with Icelantic, offering discounted mounts when customers bring their skis to Bentgate that were purchased directly from Icelantic's headquarters in Golden CO. Our staff are excited to get their hands on the Icelantic Nomad 105 LITE this year. It’s a ski that our staff has wanted to see, and it is a great ski for a ton of our customers. 

 For the first time since the shop opened, we have solid snowboards and resort specific bindings available. Our selection of splits is still growing and now includes Jones, Never Summer, Weston, and Capita. We want to stay as true as possible to our backcountry roots, but we’re psyched about our new selection of freeride boards.

How does Bent Gate stand out? How is Bent Gate adapting and evolving and staying in this ever-changing ski/snowboard and outdoor industry?

 We’re always trying to stay current with the newest and most specialized products, whether it’s a new ski or boot, or a new piece of climbing gear. We put a lot of pride in our boot-fitting, and just sent all of our boot fitters to Masterfit for training and extra practice. As the backcountry industry grows and becomes more mainstream, it is easy for customers to find quality equipment online. We want to offer an exceptional in-person shopping experience from getting the perfect boot-fit to finding the perfect position for a tele mount.

November 15th - Friends of Berthoud Pass Avalanche Awareness Clinic.

Learn from the knowledgable staff FOBP about identifying hazards, observing weather, terrain and snowfall, and self-rescue. This class is a perfect introduction for novices and also a great early season refresher for more experienced BC travelers. The class is open to the public and FREE of charge. No registration required!

November 22nd - Bentgate Happy Hour with Weston Snowboards

Come grab a beer and meet fellow split boards while enjoying Athlete edits from the Weston Snowboards Team. They’ll also share their tips on how to prepare for a split boarding trip, including local zones, gear and resources.

November 29th - Colorado Mountain School Avalanche Awareness ClinicN

In this one hour free avalanche awareness clinic our expert guides give an introduction to how avalanches happen, what they look like, and how to avoid them. (This clinic will cover similar topics to the FOBP clinic on NOV 15th)

December 6th - Backcountry 101 Session with Dynafit and IFMGA Guide Mike Soucy

Backcountry 101 sessions are free informal Q&A clinics designed to introduce skiers and boarders with the equipment and resources that are available for fun and safe backcountry tours. Dynafit has provided some great gear for a free giveaway so don’t miss out!
